Training Has Begun!

Well no backing out now. I officially registered for a 10K running over the Galveston causeway in October. It will give me a bit over the 8 weeks needed to train properly. I am using Hal Higdon's training program which I have used in the past when training for my half marathons. It is a free program so if you are ever training for any kind of distance race I recommend it. I am excited to get back into a hard core training program. I plan to do before and after pictures as well as measurements to track my progress. I don't really have weight to lose just need to tone and tighten back up to where I am my normal fit self. I would also LOVE to find my abs! Today's workout was just a nice brisk walk as I am still pretty sore from Tuesday morning Cross Fit beating! But tomorrow it will be back on the treadmill for a 2 mile run and then some strength training.

I tend to work best if I workout first thing in the morning. I am a morning person by nature. Not that it is always easy peeling myself out of my cozy bed. I sometimes have to have a pep talk with myself. It usually goes something like this..."will you feel better about yourself if you sleep for an extra hour or if you get up and go workout?" And the answer is always..."better if I get up and workout". I know this because it is still hard to peel out of bed an hour later and then I feel bad for not getting my workout in. If you are a night person and prefer to workout at night then by all means do that. The time of day you exercise is not important it is getting it done that is important.

I will end with this thought, which is another early morning pep talk I have had with myself: If you want something different you have to do something different.
