I am Learning to Love Running
Part of the reason I am training for this 10K is I have always desired to be a runner. You know one of those people you see on the side of the road running and they actually look happy about it as opposed to those people who look like they are dying. Up until now I have always fallen into that latter category. Well today I got one step closer to my goal! I ran for 2 miles without stopping and I felt great the entire time. I think that in the past I had horrible form and technique which made it not fun and at times painful for me to run. I believe that most of my problem came from hearing for so long that in order to run in proper form I needed a certain type of rigid running shoe for my pronated feet....so I purchased and attempted to run in these shoes year after year after year and still did not love running. I guess that would be the definition of insanity huh? Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. But a little over a year ago I discovered the barefoot running concept and purchased my first pair of Vivo Barefoot running shoes. This concept tends to work best for me since I have always been a much faster and much better sprinter than an actual "runner". Sprinters typically run on their tip toes which is where you strike first when bare foot running in a minimalist shoe. I have always had that tendency to want to run on my tip toes but a normal rigid running shoe does not really allow for that. So 2 tip toe miles down and many many more to go to my October 22 10K race.
